Sibunag MPS clarifies allegation involving patrol car

GUIMARAS – The Sibunag Municipal Police Station (MPS) clarified the allegation involving their patrol car that hit a motorcycle rider in Barangay Millan, Sibunag town on Nov. 22.

Sibunag MPS officer-in-charge, Police Lieutenant Val Cambel, said the motorcycle driven by 20-year-old Baraquel Huyong Guavino of Barangay Maabay, Sibunag collided with the police patrol car driven by Police Staff Sergeant Romer M. Gandecila, 39, from the same locality.

Due to the impact of the crash, the victim’s helmet got torn off his head before he fell on the road, the reason why he sustained a fatal head injury.

Guavino was taken to the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital but was later transferred to the Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center in Jaro, Iloilo City, where he passed away on Nov. 24.

Cambel clarified that there was no reconciliation or settlement yet because they have not been able to talk formally with Guavino’s family who are still grieving.

The Sibunag MPS is open to an investigation, he added./PN
