ILOILO City β Mayor Christopher Andaya of Sigma, Capiz led the call of fellow Sigmahanon for justice for their two frontliners who were killed in the Sept. 7 road accident in Barangay Ondoy, Ivisan, Capiz.
Darius Yap, driver of the rescue ambulance and his companion Ernie Fulgencio, 25, of Barangay Mangoso, Sigma, Capiz are personnel of Sigma Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
They were on their way to Roxas City, Capiz to fetch returning repatriates when their ambulance crashed against a sports utility vehicle driven by Captain Alcer Moncera, chief of the municipal police station of Dumalag, Capiz.
Andaya already assigned his personnel to investigate the incident.
βAng gusto namon nga matabo lumabas ang minatuod para mabigyan ng justice ang among heroes nga nadulaan sang kabuhi,β said Andaya in an radio interview over RMN-Roxas.
The town mayor expressed his dismayed and discontentment on how the Ivisan police was probing the case.
Anadaya said he received on Tuesday a copy of the investigation of the Ivisan police.
It was stated that the SUV crossed over causing the accident and they pulled out Moncera at the passenger’s seat of his car.
Andaya also noted that even the family is worried that the investigation may be white-washed considering that the involved is a police officer.
It was earlier reported that the driver of the SUV was Moncera but it was also recently alleged that Moncera’s companion β a woman β was the one driving when the accident happened.
To recall, the accident also injured another passenger of the rescue ambulance named John Rey Castillon, 29 of Barangay Poblacion Norte, Sigma, Capiz and the SUV passengers namely Romelyn Gondao Baldado, 19 of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental and Oliver Clarito Aguihap, 21 of Barangay Culajao, Roxas City.
