Sigma villagers surrender loose firearms

Senior Inspector Christian Mahometano, police chief of Sigma, Capiz, inspect the almost two dozen firearms that villagers, through their respective barangay captains, surrendered to the police station during the period Oct. 15 to Dec. 5.

ROXAS City – Twenty-two loose firearms of various calibers have been turned over to the police station in Sigma, Capiz.

Villagers, whom the police did not identify, surrendered the firearms during the period Oct. 15 to Dec. 5.

Among the weapons were 12 .38 revolvers, seven homemade shotguns, two .22 pistols, and a .9mm pistol, said Senior Inspector Christian Mahometano, Sigma police chief.

“Part ini sang aton kampanya sa idalum sang Tokhang Kontra sa Ginadumilian nga Pusil,” said Mahometano.

Residents who turned over the loose firearms were from barangays Acbo, Amaga, Bangon-bangon, Capuyhan, Mangoso, Mansacol, Matangcong, Mianay, Parian, Pinamalatican, and Poblacion Norte.

The Sigma police stations were taking the loose firearms in custody pending an order on their disposition from the Capiz Police Provincial Office./PN
