BACOLOD City – Two separate drug buy-bust operations in Silay City, Negros Occidental led to the recovery of suspected shabu weighing a total of 17 grams, police said.
Silay City police chief Superintendent Noel Polines said the operations on Thursday netted drug suspects Jodel Cagas, 30, of Barangay 4, Silay City and Edgar Pandes, 36, of Barangay 2, Bacolod City.
Cagas was arrested at around 8:15 p.m. at a mall in Barangay Mambulac. Suspected shabu that weighed about 7 grams valued at around P105,000 was seized from him.
Pandes, on the other hand, was nabbed at around 9 p.m. in Sitio Estaca, Barangay Lantad, police said.
Recovered from him were about 10 grams of suspected shabu estimated to be worth P150,000.
Aside from the suspected drugs, police also impounded Pandes’ Honda RS motorcycle.
A .45-caliber pistol loaded with four live bullets and P5,800 cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions were also recovered from him.
Cagas and Pandes were detained in the lockup facility of the Silay City police station.
Both of them were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Pandes also faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
