Silay police insist no abduction recorded

BACOLOD City – The Silay City Police Station clarified that they have not recorded any abduction incidents in April.

It can be recalled that the body of 43-year-old Radney “Potot” Emplamado was found in Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City on Tuesday, May 2.

Emplamado’s mother and live-in partner claimed to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director Police Colonel Noel Aliño that the victim was allegedly abducted by four unidentified men on April 18.

Meanwhile, Silay City police chief Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca said they have not recorded any abductions from April 18 until May 3.

Darroca said Emplamado’s live-in partner, Lilibeth, reported to their station on May 3 that Emplamado was missing.

A separate background check by the Silay City police confirmed Aliño’s earlier statement that Emplamado had a previous drug charge, serving jail time in 2015 but was released in 2019 after securing a plea bargaining agreement.

Emplamado was the third incident of recovered human remains in the city in just a week. Two others were found at a drainage system in neighboring Barangay Felisa on Sunday, April 30.

Following the string of recoveries of dead bodies and severed body parts, the BCPO is planning to create a special taskforce.

The BCPO is also not ruling out the possibility that a vigilante group may be operating in the metro./PN
