BACOLOD City – The molecular laboratory at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental got a score of 100 percent for this year’s external quality assessment on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) detection via reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
The assessment was conducted recently by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Based on the result released to the media, the quality assurance test was completed in May of this year.
Among the test procedures performed were Nucleic Acid Extraction, PCR Mastermix Preparation, Real Time RT-PCR, Interpretation of RT-PCR results, and RT-PCR results reporting.
The TLJPH Molecular Laboratory started operating last year and was one of the first laboratories to be established in Western Visayas.
The provincial government has another molecular laboratory at the Valladolid District Hospital./PN
