MANILA – San Miguel Alab Pilipinas failed to duplicate its home victory over the Singapore Slingers. It suffered a crushing 64-85 defeat in the ASEAN Basketball League Season 10 at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
Slingers reinforcements Anthony McCain and Xavier Alexander took advantage of Alab Pilipinas center Samuel Deguara’s getting into foul trouble early to register a lopsided victory.
Alexander nearly finished with quadruple-double with 31 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds, and eight steals while McCain chipped in double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds while also tallying seven blocks.
Marcus Elliot drained five triples and finish with 19 points for the Slingers, which were clinging to a 42-33 advantage at the half before breaking the game wide open in the second half to establish its biggest edge at 79-47.
Despite playing just limited minutes, Deguara still led the Alab Pilipinas with 14 points and nine rebounds while Nick King had nine points but shot just 4-of-13 from the field.
With the victory, the Slingers moved up from last place in the standings with 2-4 win-loss record, while the Alab Pilipinas slumped to third place with its 5-3 slate./PN
