Sinikway resident faces multiple raps

ILOILO City – Alarm and scandal. Direct assault. Violation of the election gun ban.

These three charges are being readied against 29-year-old resident of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district Jorence Durana.

On Sunday at around 7:41 p.m., Durana was arrested by barangay tanod commander Magdaleno Lentoco and tanod member Juanito Mercado for creating disturbance in Barangay Sinikway.

Resisting arrest, Durana stabbed Mercado.

Because the suspect yielded a knife, he would be charged, too, with violating the Commission on Elections’ gun ban that also covers other deadly weapons such as knives. The gun ban started on Jan. 13 and would next week yet.

Durana was detained at the La Paz police station./PN
