Sista wins PBA 3×3 third leg

MANILA — John Kenneth Mocon caught fire from the outside as Sista Super Sealers ruled leg 3 of the PBA 3×3 Lakas ng Tatlo with a 20-13 win over Pioneer Pro Tibay in the finals last night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Mocon nailed four outside hits to finish with nine points and two rebounds. RJ Argamino added six markers while Rashleigh Prince Rivero and Leodaniel De Vera combined for five points.

The Super Sealers trailed early in the match at 1-3 before Mocon and Argamino converted outside hits to take a 7-4 edge. Pioneer trimmed the deficit to 6-7 but consecutive hits by Mocon widened the lead to 12-6.

Inside shots from Rivero and De Vera followed by outside hits from Mocon gave Sista its largest lead at 18-6 before the Pioneer answered with consecutive inside hits to trim the deficit to seven as the buzzer sounded.

Gian Abrigo finished the game with six points. Christian Vonne Rivera added four markers while three-point gunner Carlo de Chavez was held to just two points for Pioneer.

For clinching the leg 3 championship of the Level 4 FIBA 3×3 tournament, the Super Sealers earned P100,000 cash prize, while Pioneer settled for P20,000 runner up cash prize.

The Super Sealers went undefeated in their Pool B matches. They won over Platinum Karaoke (22-19) and San Miguel Beermen (21-20) on Saturday and over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings (20-17) on Sunday.

The Super Sealers were tested in the quarterfinals round against the shorthanded Limitless Appmasters, 17-16, followed by a 19-15 triumph over Purefoods TJ Titans in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Terrafirma achieved its best finish in the competition at third place following a 21-16 beating of the TJ Titans. Matthew Salem caught fire from the outside to finish with 11 points.

The Dyip took home third place cash prize of P30,000, which the team will donate to their teammate Roider Cabrera, who remained hospitalized after collapsing during the leg 2 of the PBA 3×3 last week./PN
