IlOILO City – Six more villages in this southern city were placed on a 72-hour total lockdown for having at least two confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
These barangays were MV Hechanova, Lopez Jaena, Sambag, and Lanit in Jaro district; Bolilao in Mandurriao; and Caingin in La Paz.
The lockdown began at 6 p.m. yesterday until a longer period is required to conduct mandatory random testing, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Treñas issued an executive order imposing these localized containment measures.
“We decided to put them under total lockdown to contain the possible spread of the virus,” said Treñas.
There are now a total of 20 barangays under a stringent community quarantine measures.
Barangays under lockdown have to observe the 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew, strict stay-at-home and travel restrictions.
Treñas said individuals who need medical hospital care and management and authorized persons are exempted.
Food packs are being distributed to affected families as well as provisions of medical needs of residents.
Continuing contact tracing will be carried out as well as mandatory random testing for all high risk and medium risk contacts of the COVID-19 positive cases in the affected barangays./PN
