JOHN’S Institute-Bacolod Falcons displayed its dominance from start to finish and clinched the 1st Hua Ming Diamond Jubilee Volleyball D-League title on Saturday at the SJI Activity Center in Bacolod City.
Led by tournament MVP Lorien Gamboa, best setter Natalie Escares and best libero Julianah Hubiera, Falcons walloped Living Stones International School in the finals 25-18, 17-25, 25-14, 25-18.
On their way to the championship round, the Rodel Canino-mentored Falcons edged De La Salle Zobel 25-22, 24-26, 25-22 while Living Stones ousted Calvary Pontevedra 25-21, 25-19.
Calvary Pontevedra, meanwhile, salvaged a third place finish in the three-day tournament after beating De La Salle Zobel in the consolation round.
In boys’ volleyball, San Carlos City-A captured the title after a 25-15, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20 domination over Cadiz City.
San Carlos-A reached the gold medal match after sweeping San Carlos-B 25-20, 25-7 while Cadiz City bounced back from a set down to dispose Sipalay 24-26, 25-21, 25-19 in the other semifinal game.
