ROXAS City – The mandatory training for new Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in Capiz is ongoing.
The first training day was on May 18. The last is on May 26.
The one-day training is a requirement before winners in the recently concluded SK polls can assume post on June 30.
It is in compliance with Republic Act 10742, or the SK Reform Act of 2015.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office has partnered with the Capiz State University (CapSU) for the training.
Topics like decentralization and local governance, code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees, conduct of session and making of resolutions, history of the Sanggunian Kabataan, and planning and budgeting are tackled in the training.
“Resource persons on the topics include CapSU professors and city or municipal local government operations officers,” said DILG-Capiz public information officer Erwin Bonifacio.
Bonifacio added that the SK official-elects must coordinate with their respective city or municipal local government operations officers for their specific training schedule and venue.
Each SK official who will attend the training must pay P1,600 which is sourced from the SK fund.
While it is a requirement, unforeseen events beyond the control of the trainees – like sickness – may be deemed as a valid excuse for non-attendance.
But absent SK officials shall submit a written request to the Provincial Management Team for a special training at his/her own expense. (With a report from PIA/PN)
