BULACAN – President Rodrigo Duterte has vowed to usher in a golden age of infrastructure with the “Build, Build, Build” program.
The massive undertaking, however, is facing delay due to a lack of skilled workers, he said.
“Itong ‘Build, Build, Build’ medyo atrasado. Walang trabahante,” the President said Thursday in a speech during the proclamation rally of ruling party PDP-Laban.
Infrastructure is among the top priorities of the Duterte administration, with a target of at least P8 trillion in government spending from 2017 to 2022.
The infrastructure push is expected to complete some 75 flagship projects, including 6 airports, 4 seaports, and 9 railways, which are seen to bring down production cost and facilitate the movement of goods.
Duterte’s economic managers are also looking into the construction of energy facilities, as well as water resource projects and irrigation systems.
Proceeds from the recently implemented Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law will help fund these big-ticket projects. (ABS-CBN News)
