Slain carpenter involved in robberies?

BACOLOD City – A carpenter killed in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental was allegedly involved in robberies.

Police were looking into the reported hand of Aurelio “Junjun” Metuda Jr. in robbery incidents in Escalante and Sagay cities as they try to solve his fatal shooting.

At least two gunmen attacked the 42-year-old Metuda at around 4 p.m. on Thursday in Yolanda Housing, Jerusalem Ville.

Metuda was in the house of a relative at the time, said Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Cadiz City police head.

A native of Barangay Magsaysay, Escalante City, the victim was temporarily residing in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City.

Metuda sustained a gunshot wound on the forehead.

Barangay tanod Giovanni Pelenio and other residents brought the victim to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic and later transfer him to the Cadiz District Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

The suspects fled on board a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle toward an unknown direction, said the police.

His live-in partner, Richel Francisco of Manapla town, told police she heard someone threatening Metuda over the phone.

Police recovered an empty shell of a .45 pistol at the crime scene. Investigation into the incident continues./PN
