BACOLOD City – A suspect in a slay case was himself killed in Sitio Pacao, Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Celso Monataño Liño, 33, died of a gunshot wound in the abdomen and multiple hack wounds on Nov. 2.
The crime happened around 9:30 p.m., according to Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan City police director.
Sitio Pacao, Barangay Bantayan is a far-flung village. The city police was informed of the crime only on Nov. 3, said Santos.
Liño was a suspect in the death of a certain Nelson Silvano Sison also of Kabankalan City, according to the police.
Investigators have not discounted the possibility that Liño’s death was a revenge killing.
As of this writing, however, the police have not identified any suspect. The investigation is ongoing./PN
