BACOLOD City – Small Town Lottery is legal in the city, said Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky.

But “only authorized representatives and bet collectors with proper documents, including identification cards and betting sheets, may be allowed to operate,” the Bacolod City Police Office head stressed.

Super Lucky Beagler, Inc. is an authorized STL agent operating in Negros Occidental and this capital city.

Based in Sagay City, Beagler’s franchise is under Mark Jalandoni.

Its permit to operate was extended from February this year to February 2020, stated a certification letter dated Jan. 31 and signed by Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Alexander Balutan.

Wanky was furnished a copy of the letter.

He stressed this does not mean the police will no longer go after illegal STL operations.

Wanky said the PCSO gave him the names of people working for Beagler. Copies of the list were distributed to all 10 police stations here.

Anyone collecting STL bets but whose name is not on the list will be apprehended, he warned.

Bet collectors identified with Beagler but whose betting pad is not officially that of the authorized operator will be arrested as well, Wanky said.

Meanwhile Councilor Caesar Distrito urged the police to make sure any authorized STL operator has valid documents and a legitimate operation.

“Some (authorized) gambling operators may be operating illegally,” the chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on laws, ordinances and good government said./PN
