MANILA – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) penalized San Miguel Beermen veterans Ronald Tubid and Kelly Nabong for their role in the Spiderman incident during the 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup finals.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said Ilonggo Tubid and Nabong were suspended in Beermen’s first three games in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and will have to pay P75,000 each.

Tubid was penalized by the league after he was seen in television punching “Spiderman” clad court invader Paolo Felizarta in an apparent retaliation to the collision with Beermen center June Mar Fajardo.

Nabong, on the other hand, was punished by the league after punching a man that was mistakenly identified as an accomplice of Felizarta.

Also sanctioned were Beermen assistant team manager Daniel Henares and Dr. Ramon Ibanez, who were both fined P50,000 and suspended for two games.

The championship game between Beermen and Magnolia Hotshots on May 10 was disrupted when Spiderman clad Felizarta stormed to the court and bumped into Fajardo, who was down on the floor for several minutes.

The assailant was immediately accosted by the securities of Smart Araneta Coliseum and was brought to the police station along with two companions. He was charged with unjust vexation and alarm and scandal by the PBA./PN
