OVER 40 items under the list of basic necessities and prime commodities being monitored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will have price adjustments in the coming weeks
These items will include instant noodles, soap and bottled water, among other basic items.
DTI Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles said they will release a new bulletin soon.
“‘Yung paglabas natin ng SRP (suggested retail price) bulletin, maybe po next month, to cover all of the basic necessities and prime commodities na na-review na po natin ‘yung mga price adjustment.”
The trade department is also making some changes in the timing of the release of the bulletin.
Previously, DTI released the SRP bulletin before the change was reflected in stores. This time, the bulletin will be released after changes have been reflected.
“We are asking the manufacturers to let us know once the price adjustment have been effective at the store front para at least aligned tayo,” Nograles asked manufacturers.
DTI approved the increase in prices of soap, canned sardines and powdered milk in January.
Back then, DTI was also studying the proposal of some manufacturers to increase the prices of bottled water, instant noodles, bread, and other canned products including corned beef and meat loaf, as well as candles and batteries.
The DTI said manufacturers have petitioned for price increases as early as 2022 but were just asked to defer the implementation.
The DTI publishes the price adjustments through “e-Presyo.” (GMA Integrated News)
