MANILA – Kyla Soguilon will spearhead the Philippine Swimming League (PSL) team set to compete in the 2016 Hamilton Aquatics Winter Long Course Swimming Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Soguilon, a product of Sun Yat Sen High School-Aklan, is one of the favored swimmers in the 11-man PSL team slated to compete in the swim fest on Dec.16 to 17.
Aside from the Kalibo, Aklan-native Soguilon, who was recently crowned the Most Outstanding Swimmer in the 12-and-under division of the PSL, also competing in the women’s division are Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh and Triza Haileyana Tabamo.
Participating in the men’s division are Jerard Jacinto, Sean Terence Zamora, Sean Elijah Enero, Paul Christian Cusing, Albert Sermona II, Lorenzo Malapitan, Drew Magbag, and Jeffrey Hirao.
“It’s our first time to compete in Middle East and we’re looking forward to another successful campaign. These swimmers are no pushovers. They are raring to compete against the best tankers in the region,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
“We only have 11 swimmers in the lineup but these kids are all potential gold medal winners. It’s a good exposure for them, competing against their foreign counterparts. Sending them abroad is part of our program for these young swimmers,” she added.
This will be the PSL’s last competition this year following their successful campaigns in Tokyo, Japan last February and October; Perth, Australia last March; Hong Kong last April; and Singapore last August and September./PN
