BACOLOD City – A 29-year-old resident of Barangay Mansilingan was arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Belfred Villareal identified himself as a Philippine Army soldier. He was detained in the custodial facility of Police Station 10.
Villareal was initially apprehended for a traffic violation in Barangay Handumanan on Tuesday.
But police officers saw Villareal possessing a .45-caliber pistol. The man failed to show documents proving ownership of the firearm. Officers confiscated the pistol and several ammunition.
Villareal was facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
