Soldier hacked to death in Jamindan

CAPIZ – A soldier of the Philippine Army was hacked to death by an alleged member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, in Barangay Jaena Sur, Jamindan town.

Alias “Rey”, a resident of Bacolod City, sustained fatal hack wounds. He was declared dead on arrival at Dao District Hospital in Dao town, Jamindan police said.

Investigations revealed that prior to the incident Rey and the suspect identified as alias “Lar”, 37, a resident of Barangay Jaena Sur, went to a fishpond.

According to a witness, they later overheard someone calling for assistance and immediately ran towards the scene. They found Rey on the ground near a creek with hack wounds in the different parts of his body while Lar was spotted nearby, clutching a bolo and having signs of neck and abdominal injuries.

The CAFGU member was brought to Mambusao District Hospital but was transferred to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for proper treatment.

As of this writing, the Jamindan Municipal Police Station was still investigating the incident further to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal hacking./PN
