ILOILO City – A Philippine Army soldier died when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Wednesday, June 26, in Barangay Punong, Passi City, Iloilo.
The 29-year-old Private First Class John Paul Heraod, assigned at the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), succumbed to head and body injuries at Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital.
According to Lieutenant Colonial Benjo Clarete, chief of the Passi City Police Station, the incident happened at around 9:25 a.m. while Heraod was on his way to Iloilo City.
Clarete said the soldier lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the Toyota Fortuner running in opposite direction.
As of this writing, the unharmed driver of the SUV was taken into custody by the Passi City Police Station./PN
