AKLAN – To serve as a lasting tribute for the remarkable life and legacy, Aklan 1st District’s Rep. Carlito Marquez introduced House Bill No. 10437 seeking to rename a public school in honor of the late assemblyman of the 3rd District of Capiz, now province of Aklan.

Marquez said renaming Makato Integrated School in Poblacion, Makato town as Jose “Soñing” Timtiman-Tumbokon Integrated  Memorial School aims to recognize the invaluable contributions and service of the illustrious political leader to the municipality of Makato.

“Tumbokon showed his unwavering support to the youth by providing measures that allotted adequate classrooms, desks, teachers, and personnel during his stint as Assemblyman to the Interim Batasang Pambansa from 1978-1984,” he added.

Tumbokon deserves to have a public school named after him as his family donated the property to the Department of Education for Makato Elementary School, now Makato Integrated School.

Tumbokon was also a Philippine delegate to the European Parliament, a Presidential Adviser for General Affairs, and a Minister of State for Public Information during the administration of President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos.

He was conferred the highest recognition for the Philippine Republic for excellent representation and exemplary participation in United Nations committee deliberations following General Carlos P. Romulo.

Tumbokon died at the age of 91 in 2019./PN
