KALIBO, Aklan – Rep. Carlito Marquez wants a Land Transportation Office (LTO) satellite office put up in Malay town.
It will assist the LTO office in this capital town, Marquez said in filing House Bill No. 3011.

Establishing the LTO satellite office at the northern municipality will help hasten the application for or renewal of driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registrations, according to the congressman.

The LTO office in Barangay Tigayon is around 50 kilometers away from Buruanga, Nabas, Ibajay, and Malay, all in northern Aklan.
“The distance,” Marquez said, “is disadvantageous and inconvenient for the constituents.”

If approved, the Malay satellite office may also serve clients from the nearby towns of Pandan, Sebaste, Culasi, and Libertad in Antique.
With the lone LTO office in Kalibo, “a weeklong processing of paperwork becomes slower due to the (office’s) workload and backlog,” the congressman said.
