ILOILO City – “I want all policemen to entertain complaints of the public, and solve crimes. Indi ko gusto mag sinuplado kag mag sinuplada ang mga pulis sa mga tawo.”
Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, director of t he Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), issued these directives after a “surprise” inspection of six police stations yesterday.
“I would also like to emphasize cleanliness in every police station,” he added.
Garbanzos’ unannounced inspection assessed the police stations’ readiness to respond to peace and order concerns, orderliness and how they received public concerns – the focus of new Philippine National Police chief, Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar.
Garbanzos told his men to strengthen anti-crime operations and patrol deployment.
Police stations need to improve, he stressed.
“So far, they are alert. They are wearing their new uniforms. More improvements pa… Nami mabal–an nga may initial nga ginahimo ang mga commanders on the ground to comply with the directives of the national headquarters. We are happy that they are doing their job,” he said.
On the other hand, the ICPO director reiterated his directive to all station commanders to continue their saturation drives and police checkpoints, especially for motorcycle riders, and foot patrolling as crime prevention measures.
“I want my men to roam around and conduct checkpoints. These are very important in preventing crimes. We have a peaceful city and we want to maintain it,” said Garbanzos./PN
