ILOILO City – A drug pushing suspect in northern Iloilo was arrested in Barangay Camambugan, Balasan town.
An undercover officer of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) bought from 19-year-old Kenneth Tiope a sachet of shabu for P300 on Thursday night.
Tiope’s father Noli, 49, was also a drug pushing suspect. He was arrested last Mach 2016 by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
The elder Tiope is currently detained at the Iloilo District Jail in Barangay Nanga, Pototan.
From their house around 9:15 p.m. on April 6 the younger Tiope was taken to the Balasan police station.
According to PDEU head Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Tiope turned himself in to the Balasan police station last year but claimed he was a mere drug user.
“He was place under surveillance for quite some time and finally we got him,” said Sustento.
“The Tiopes’ scope of operation is not only in Balasan. It also includes neighboring towns to include Estancia,” added Sustento.
Tiope faces a charge for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
