Son of top drug suspect foils abduction try

BACOLOD City – A son of a deceased top drug personality in Bacolod City claimed having managed to escape an abduction attempt in Manapla, Negros Occidental late Sunday night.

Police withheld the identity of the 33-year-old man, a resident of Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City.

According to Police Captain Jaynick Bermudez, Manapla municipal police chief, the man claimed he was about to board his motorcycle after playing basketball at the town plaza when he was approached by five unidentified men.

The men dragged him to a waiting black sports utility vehicle and they also tried to cuff his wrists.

However, the man told the police, he managed to run away while still in cuffs and the abductors did not anymore chased him as they had drawn the full attention of the crowd in the area.

The men quickly left. Their SUV had no license plates.

At the Manapla police station where he reported the foiled abduction, the man insisted he was never involved in illegal drugs./PN
