ILOILO – Two members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) had an almost perfect attendance in Provincial Board sessions so far this year.
From January to Nov. 20, SP members Demetrio Sonza (2nd District) and Domingo Oso Jr. (4th District) each attended 47 out of 48 SP sessions held, according to SP secretary Atty. Raul Tiosayco Jr.
Oso is the chairman of the following SP committees: Aquatic Resources; Games and Amusement; Rules, Privileges, Ethics and Accountability; Transportation and Communication and Public Utilities.
On the other hand, Sonza chairs the committees on Culture, Arts, History and Tourism, and Ordinances, Legal Matters and Inter-Government Relations.
The SP members with the least number of sessions attended were Jeneda Salcedo Orendain (5th District) and Philippine Councilors League – Iloilo Chapter president Licurgo Tirador. Each attended 33 SP sessions.
According to Tiosayco, SP members just like other government employees enjoy 25 days leave credits annually as mandated by the Civil Service Law.
These 25 days may be used for vacation leave, sick leave and special privilege leave, said Tiosayco.
Official business trips are not charged against the 25 days leave credits, he clarified.
The SP holds regular sessions every Tuesday. The last session this year is on the first week of December.
