No ‘SOPA’ today, says Capiz capitol

ROXAS City — Not everything posted on Facebook is true.

The provincial government of Capiz denied that Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. will deliver his State of the Province Address, or SOPA, today, as stated by a Facebook post by user “Mitch Almosera.”

The post invited local officials and media reporters to the supposed SOPA from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.

In the post, the Facebook user claimed that Capiz Archbishop Jose Advincula will officiate a mass at 8 a.m. and that radio stations RMN, Bombo Radyo and Radyo Budyong will cover the SOPA live.

Provincial Administrator Jose Villanueva denied this.

“For purposes of clarity, there is no scheduled SOPA 2014, more particularly at the Civic Center, Roxas City on September 18, 2014,” Villanueva said in a letter posted on the official Facebook page of the Capiz Provincial Press Bureau on Sept. 15.

“In addition, there will be no announcement, news or letter of invitation disseminated relative to the SOPA 2014 referred to above, which will be posted in the official Facebook page of the Capiz Provincial Press Bureau,” he said./PN
