
BACOLOD City – South Cotabato Dreamweavers and Iloilo Angels emerged as champions in the 2022 Next Gen Spike for Youth on Sunday at the Barangay Granada Gym here.
The Dreamweavers emerged as champions in the women’s volleyball division by defeating Team Talisay in the tightly-contested championship match.
Bannering the Dreamweavers were Bacolodnons Erika Deloria and Rhean Almendralejo, both formerly of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts and now with Enderun College Titans.
Also part of the team were Bea Johanna Legado, Charizjay Layo, Ericka Manggaron, Ella Mae Magbalot, Janelle Chilo Maignos, Reann Marie Zambra, Nika Jyn Atayan, and Carmela Zarate.
Team Bang, on the other hand, salvaged the bronze medal in the women’s division that was participated by 11 squads.
The Iloilo Angels, on the other hand, emerged as champions in the men’s volleyball division, via its triumph over Team Lantad Silay.
University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons’ Noy Pedrosa bannered the Angels team along with John Paul Caliso, Renan Panase, John Dave Dorego, John Jhen Zereso, and Allan Dayang.
Completing the Iloilo City-based club were Niel John Dumalag, Deo Amparado, Gifred Caoyanan, Miles Atienza, Remton Angelo Say, Mikko Yu, and Paolo Doronilla.
Team Zone 1 Murcia finished as second runner up in the men’s division that was joined by 20 volleyball clubs.
The two-day volleyball tournament was participated by players that were fully vaccinated from coronavirus disease 2019 and were registered voters./PN
