BACOLOD City – The Sugar Coast Beach Bash event is back after five years, announced Thomas Andrew Zayco, general manager of Punta Bulata Resort and Spa.
This May 16 and 17, the music festival will be held at the grounds of the resort in Cauyan, Negros Occidental.
Zayco said the festival will be a fusion of the Carnival in Rio and the Ozora Festival of Hungary.
The Sugar Coast Beach Bash started in 2005. It brought together people from all around Negros Island and neighboring islands for a festival of great music and to have a good time, Zayco said.
This year, activities include a trip to Danjugan Island Marine Reserve, snorkeling and diving, Island treks, morning yoga, fire dancing and paraw sailing.
Zayco hopes that the Sugar Coast Beach Bash will evolve to highlight the ever-expanding tourist destinations of southern Negros, including the white sand beaches and hidden coves of the Sipalay coast.
Another objective of Sugar Coast Beach Bash is to make people conscious of the importance of preserving and protecting Negros’ coasts and marine environment, said Zayco.
Part of the event’s proceeds will go to the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation and the Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Sanctuaries.
This year’s festivities feature bands and DJs including Motherbass, Synima, Quest, Jessica Milner, Katsy Lee, Never the Strangers, Deep Sphere, DJ Euric, as well as popular local artists like the Wicked Tarsiers./PN
