SP cites 3 Capizeña WCOPA stars

CAPIZ – Three Capizeña singers were given recognition by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here for winning big in the 25th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held at Hyatt Regency Anaheim, California in America from July 22 to 30, 2022.

Sheena Mae P. Olimba of Pilar town, Maybelle S. Villan of Dao town, and Coleen Mae C. Dumol of Roxas City all represented the Philippines to the competition.

Olimba was a multimedalist and semifinalist at WCOPA 2022 winning gold plaques as division winner for Broadway and Country Music; gold medals for Broadway and Country; silver medal for Latin; and bronze medals for Original Works, Jazz, and Group Production.

Villan, for her part, won a gold medal for Vocal Self-Accompaniment Open (WCOPA 2020 Virtual); silver medals for Variety and Gospel (WCOPA 2020 Virtual); and bronze medals for Vocal Solo RnB/Soul/Jazz and Gospel.

On the other hand, Dumol got bronze medals in the Group Production (Broadway), Contemporary, and Pop (WCOPA 2020 Virtual).

The provincial legislative body also gave recognition to Gino Paulo Buizon of Dao who is WCOPA Alumnus and was a multimedalist in 2019.

As gratitude for their recognition, the awardees rendered a number to the SP members by singing their winning pieces during the competition./PN
