BACOLOD City – Unless the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) ratifies its contract with city hall, the IPM Construction and Development Corp. cannot manage the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.
The city council has not yet received a request to ratify the P52-million deal.
Neither has the contract been returned to the SP for ratification after the councilors granted Mayor Evelio Leonardia the authority to sign it, said Councilor Caesar Distrito.
Distrito, chairman of the committee on laws, ordinances and good government, said they might ratify the contract next week yet.
The SP authorized Leonardia to sign the deal on May 31.
On May 18 the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) declared the IPM the winning contractor for the landfill maintenance and operation.
The project has an approved budget for the contract of P52.5 million. The IPM offered P52,420,281.06, BAC chairman Maphilindo Polvora.
Under the contract, the city government shall pay the IPM P7,488,611.58 every month from June to December this year. City hall can only make the payments after the deal has been ratified by the SP./PN
