ILOILO City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved the proposed lowering of cost for reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test at the city-run Uswag Molecular Laboratory.
From P2,500 the RT-PCR test now costs P1,800.
Mayor Jerry Treñas requested the city council to lower the rate as response to the request of the business sector. As businesses reopen they need to continuously test their employees, the mayor said.
Meanwhile, the city is offering swab test for free at the Jubilee Hall for symptomatic patients with doctor’s referral, close contacts, returning overseas Filipinos, and returning residents.
Treñas is urging city residents to undergo RT-PCR test if they are having influenza-like symptoms.
“Our cases are rising. We have to test more and vaccinate more to curb transmissions,” said Treñas./PN
