‘Spare the Trees’ Posting campaign materials, ads on trees prohibited

CAPIZ – The Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) is reminding the public to spare the trees from campaign materials, advertisements, and public announcements.

According to CaPENRO, trees must be protected too, thus, posting such materials on trees is prohibited, citing Section 3 of Republic Act No. 3571.

Republic Act No. 3571 criminalizes the cutting, destroying, or injuring of trees, whether planted or growing, flowering plants or plants of scenic value along public roads, in plazas, parks, school premised, or any other public ground.

Some prohibitions are also stipulated under Presidential Decree No. 953 wherein violators may face imprisonment from six months to two years or a fine amounting to P500 to P 5,000./PN
