ANTIQUE – The provincial government received 500 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Department of Health (DOH).
These would be used today, Sept. 22, for the second doses of those who were inoculated with this Russia-made vaccine in the first week of July.
According to the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO), the recipients would be the frontliners such as the staff of hospitals, temporary treatment and monitoring facilities, rural health units, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars and overseas Filipino workers.
“Tungod sa limitado nga suplay kang dya nga bakuna, nagakinahanglan nga i-prioritize naton ang pagataw-an,” a statement from the APHO read. “…Kami nagapangayo kang pasensya sa indi madangatan…”
On the first week of July, Antique received 2,400 doses of the Sputnik-V, a two-dose vaccine. These were administered mostly to healthcare workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te, medical officer of the Department of Health – Region 6, assured Antiqueños that DOH’s central office knew of the vaccine situation in the province vis-à-vis the Sputnik supply.
She also said the interval between two doses of this vaccine is six months maximum.
“Ginatinguhaan gid…(sang) aton central office…makapadala sa Antique para makumpleto ang second dose,” said Te.
