ILOILO City – The Social Security System (SSS) conducted a surprise visit to 12 erring establishments in this city with contribution delinquencies amounting to P7,228,514.84.
Officials from Manila led by SSS executive vice president for Branch Operations Sector lawyer Voltaire Agas spearheaded the “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign back to back operations here on June 20 and 21.
On June 20, the RACE team issued show cause orders to six establishments involved in information technology and sales services, engineering services, educational services, construction services and dining services.
SSS expects to collect some P5,991,117.35 from said establishments, mostly located in Jaro district, and covered by the SSS Iloilo Central Branch.
Six establishments under the SSS Iloilo Molo Branch were subjected to the operation the next day. These establishments have a combined total contribution delinquency of P1,237,397.49.
Agas said the RACE Operations was relaunched in Visayas as they have noted that during the pandemic, many employers have failed to remit the contributions of their employees.
“Sa kaalaman po natin, ’yong mga updated contributions ay diyan po binabase ‘yong paano sila makapag-avail ng mga benepisyong pwede nila makuha sa SSS,” explained Agas to members of media who joined the operation.
The benefits include sickness, disability, maternity, death, retirement and survivorship pensions as well as funeral benefits.
Agas said that through the relaunched RACE operations, they will offer remedies to challenged employers. This includes their ongoing Enhanced Installment Payment under their Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP) intended to help these employers to settle their contribution delinquency and accrued penalties.
PRRP 3 which offers installment terms ranging from nine to 60 months depending on the total amount of obligation will run until Nov. 22 this year.
Agas urged employers to visit the SSS branch who handles their account for the processing of their PRRP 3 application. Account Officers are available to assist them.
SSS is compelled to file legal cases against delinquent establishments that failed to respond to the show cause order within 15 days for violation of SSS Act 2018. (JBG, PIA6-Iloilo/PN)
