SSS ‘tokhang’ targets delinquent employers

ROXAS City – A team from the Social Security System (SSS) will visit identified delinquent employers in Western Visayas this year.

“We have a schedule of the SSS adaptation of tokhang, but only the team knows when. [This is] to make concerned employers unprepared for their violations,” SSS-Capiz branch manager Rene Moises Gonzales said in a barangay forum in the city on June 22.

The SSS tokhang initiative, named after the Philippine National Police antidrug campaign, aims to call out delinquent employers in the country, urging them to comply with Republic Act 8282, or the Social Security Law of 1997.

Gonzales appealed to employers in Capiz to voluntarily enlist employees as SSS members and pay their contributions on time to avoid the tokhang visits.

“Your business will not succeed without the employees so it’s better to give them what is right and just, like SSS membership,” he stressed. (With a report from PIA/PN)
