Sta. Barbara family face inquiries on fake RT-PCR test results

A family who was caught with alleged fake Reverse Transcription- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test results is under investigation by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Barbara.

According to Santa Barbara Municipal Administrator, Attorney Leo Superio, the family was returning from Cebu on Saturday, April 24. The parents with their children, two minors, and the family driver mad port in Estancia, Iloilo where LGU-Estancia personnel checked their documents. The document was found with no QR code. LGU-Estancia informed the Iloilo Provincial Capitol who in turn contacted the LGU-Santa Barabara.

“From Cebu nagderetso sila sa Estancia. Pag-present nila sang RT-PCR test nagduda ang counterpart ta sa Estancia kay wala sang QR code ang ila RT-PCR test. Ti, gintawgan kami nga puede sugaton ang magpamilya kay indi nila pag-released kon indi LGU ang masugat,” Superio said in an interview with Panay News.

The LGU-Santa Barabara verified from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu that the hospital had no records issuing the test results. Officials are currently investigating whether this was deliberate or if the family was the victim of a scam. In the event investigations find them guilty, the family could face charges for falsification of documents. The family was placed in strict quarantine awaiting the results of the invstigation./PN
