SANTA Clarita International School Primes made it to the quarterfinal round of the secondary boys basketball in the Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet.
The Primes, which topped Category B, earned the quarterfinals seat in Category A after a 104-71 domination of PAREF-Westbridge in a knockout match Friday at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City.
Frank Steven Tono posted 28 points to lead the Primes, which will face No. 3 CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights in the knockout quarterfinals. Kim Rey Servano added 19.
“It is already an achievement for us but we will not stop here,” said Primes head coach Rodel Camacho. “We will do our best to win our next game, especially that we are facing a tough team.”
Meanwhile, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University became the first team to reach the finals in tertiary men after a close 74-71 win over Iloilo Doctors’ College. Hiljohn Cartagena led John B. with 23 points.
WIT, meanwhile, removed University of San Agustin off the contention with a 75-72 escape. Deter Gim Travinia and Alendal Tumilba had 16 points each for WIT.
In the elementary level, the defending champions Ateneo de Iloilo cruised to an 83-27 victory over Santa Isabel College of Iloilo. Jurrien Iñigo Tenorio finished with 14 markers for Ateneo (3-1).
St. Joseph School, meanwhile, defeated Westbridge 62-50 with Samuel Madison Jr. scoring 23 points. Santa Clarita, on the other hand, handed Hua Siong College of Iloilo their first loss via default./PN
