FOUR schools have secured their place in the semifinals of the National Basketball Training Center Iloilo leg after winning their quarterfinals matches on Sunday at the Western Institute of Technology gym.
Defending champions Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix secured their place in the Final Four after a 99-71 win over Iloilo National High School. Jann Paolo Villariza had 17 points, while Reynold Tupas added 15 markers for the Red Phoenix.
Sta. Clarita International School Primes also moved on to the next round after a 108-60 annihilation of Sun Yat Sen High School. Kim Rey Servano and Jemar Cepriano had 16 markers each for the Primes.
St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets survived a tough stand by the CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights for a 75-72 win. Rolen John Pantin and Kent John Parrenas had 13 markers each for the Panda Rockets.
University of San Agustin also completed a sweep of its matches after an 82-48 rout of The Integrated Academy School Systems Inc. (TIASS). Karl Malco had 17 points, while John Michael Vicencio added 12 markers for SanAg.
The semifinals is slated on Feb. 13 at the same venue where the Red Phoenix will battle the Primes, while San Ag will take on the Panda Rockets. Game starts at four in the afternoon.
The winner of the semifinals will advance to the one-game finale slated on Feb. 14 at the same venue, where the winner will represent the Iloilo leg in the regionals on Feb. 24 and 25 in Capiz./PN
