Sta. Clarita stays perfect in Bingawan caging tilt

STA. CLARITA International School Primes cruised to its second straight win in the Bingawan Foundation Cup-Preseason High School Basketball Premier Tournament-Season 3 over the weekend at the Bingawan Gym in Bingawan, Iloilo.

The Primes kicked off its campaign in the month-long tournament on Friday with an 86-74 victory over Westbridge School with John Nayr Magarse being hailed as the player of the match.

Later in the afternoon, the Primes manhandled Mary Immaculate Academy Saints, 95-59. Keith Bernasol top-scored with 13 markers for the Rodel Camacho-mentored Primes.

The Saints suffered its second consecutive defeat on Saturday when they were beaten by Assumption School-Passi City Golden Doves, 103-93. Edrian Aguirre was hailed as the player of the match after scoring 17 markers for the Golden Doves.

Defending champion Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix also have a winning start as it walloped Bingawan National High School, 115-81. Jaspher Antijendra had 18 points for the winning team.

CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights  leaned on the hot hands of Lester Valn Paraico as it turn back WVPRISAA and WVRAA regional champions Hercor College Junior Jaguars.

Paraico, who is being recruited by several schools in Manila, scattered 33 points for the Governor’s Cup-Visayas titlist Silver Knights and took the early edge in Group B standings./PN
