ILOILO City – An 18-year-old man from Lapuz was arrested for stabbing another district resident yesterday.

Mark Steven Umadhay of Barangay Libertad, Lapuz was detained at the La Paz police station custodial facility.

The victim – 25-year-old Argie Fallorina of Barangay Loboc, Lapuz – sustained a stab wound on the right shoulder, a police report showed.

Fallorina did not personally know Umadhay. It was not immediately clear as of this writing what the motive in the attack was. The police report identified Umadhay as a “special child.”

The La Paz police station learned about the stabbing from an officer who reported that Fallorina was taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro.

Fallorina told the police that he was walking home at around 1:30 p.m. when someone – later identified as Umadhay – stabbed him.

His attacker fled while he sought help from a nearby Community Police Assistance Center, the police report stated.

Officers launched a hot pursuit that later led to the arrest of Umadhay in Barangay Libertad. The latter yielded a bloodied 12-inch knife, which the police believed was the weapon.

Police brought Umadhay to Fallorina and the latter “positively identified” the former as his attacker, stated the report./PN
