BACOLOD City – A man surrendered to the police in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
The 47-year-old Demetrio Jaime of Barangay San Jose, Tanjay City said he shot the 46-year-old Jaime Quinianola of Barangay Cambagyo, Bais City, Negros Oriental around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, a police report showed.
From what the police gathered so far, Jaime was son his way home in Barangay 1, Tanjay City when Quinianola suddenly appeared and stabbed him using a knife.
Jaime defended himself and shot Quinianola using a .45-caliber firearm, police said.
Quinianola sustained a gunshot wound on the body and was rushed to the Urgent Care Clinic in Tanjay City where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
Senior Police Officer 3 Rosario Oliver said they recovered two empty shells, a bullet and Quinianola’s knife from the crime scene.
Police were still identifying the motive in the stabbing./PN
