ILOILO City – A 42-year-old man landed in hospital after his nephew stabbed him in Barangay Agba-o, Bingawan, Iloilo, a police report showed.
Resident Jomer Suarez was currently receiving treatment at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
He sustained a stab wound on the stomach, police said.
The suspect was identified as the 29-year-old Rubenito Diaz, also a resident of Barangay Agba-o.
According to the police, Suarez and Diaz were on their way home from a drinking binge when an altercation ensued between them.
This prompted Diaz to attack his uncle around 10 p.m. on Saturday. It was not immediately clear what weapon did the suspect use in stabbing Suarez.
Diaz then fled but was later arrested in a police hot pursuit operation.
He was detained in the lockup cell of the Bingawan municipal police station./PN
