THE WAR in Ukraine is still killing people and recent actions from Russia indicate they are unlikely to stop attacking. Peace is a long way off.
This is made worse by the statement from United States’ Secretary of State Marco Rubio that they would “move on” and stop helping with peace talks unless they see some success. This is a disappointing update from “I’ll have that done in 24 hours.”
Even with the best of intentions by the best negotiators peace talks can take a long time and not always end with a successful outcome.
The idea of not contributing to the process because it is difficult, boring or not generating positive news items is wrong and the action of an immoral coward.

Bring Trump into the daylight
President Trump wants to bring more of America into the daylight so that families will have more fun time in the sun, but will this make them happier?
There are some advantages, for him, with more time for golf, more time to see his cheering crowds, and extra sunlight to give him that glowing skinvl – orange just like the sun.
There may be disadvantages for many, the depressing drive to work in the dark, although that won’t affect him as the hallways of the Whitehouse should be well lit.
It will also upset the political hacks that work best in the dark corners of politics.
Let the light shine, but the God-given light, not that of a false God.

There is usually wisdom in the classics. A recent revisit to George Orwell’s “1984” provides material to consider in 2025.
The reverse logic of a key theme “Ignorance is strength” is being enacted through the imposition of Trump tariffs on so many countries and a few penguins.
The statement that “There was truth and there was untruth” has been updated with fake news and alternative facts but people are starting to realise what the truth is and it’s not always found on Trump’s Truth Social app.
There is a final and serious warning from “1984” – “We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it.” It could happen, take note of the warning.
