ILOILO – A 23-year-old motorcycle driver died after being struck by a steel pipe carried by a top-down tricycle in Barangay 6 Poblacion, Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Alex Tacuel, a resident of Barangay Igdampog Sur, Tubungan town, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
According to Captain Alfred Mansoy, chief of the Tigbauan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the accident occurred in a known blind spot in the area.
The motorcyclist reportedly failed to notice the top-down tricycle or angkar-angkar crossing the road while transporting GI pipes. As Tacuel attempted to overtake, one of the pipes struck his neck, Mansoy added.
As of this writing, the 32-year-old tricycle driver, Mark Veladiez of Barangay Rizal-Tuguisan, Guimbal, was taken into custody by the Tigbauan MPS.
Police were still investigating the incident to determine any possible liabilities./PN
