Storm ‘Dante’ brings heavy rains, flashflood to Capiz

ROXAS City – Several areas in Capiz province experienced flooding brought by Tropical Storm “Dante” yesterday.

At 5 a.m., the extreme northern portion of the province was placed under Typhoon Signal No. 2 while the rest were under Typhoon Signal No. 1.

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), roads and rice fields were inundated in the following towns:

* President Roxas – Barangay Poblacion, Barangay Ibaca

* Dumarao – Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Barangay Tinaytayan, Barangay Janguslob, Barangay Malonoy, Barangay Guinotos, Barangay Calapawan

Floodwaters subsided in some areas yesterday afternoon, making some roads passable already.

By 3 p.m. yesterday, the typhoon signal in Roxas City and Capiz was lifted but moderate to heavy rains until today could still be expected.

Meanwhile, four fisherfolk in Pilar, Capiz were reported missing.

Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras visited the areas affected by flood in President Roxas.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately distributed relief goods to affected families./PN
