ROXAS City – A total of 361 family food packs worth P330,674.80 were to residents in Severe Tropical Storm Kristine-affected areas in this city.

This was part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6’s disaster response operations.

The distribution of the food packs was facilitated and led by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas last Oct. 23recently.

“While the weather is still calm, we initiated the transport of the assistance from the DSWD to the city’s island barangay of Olotayan to make sure that the islanders will not go hungry,” the mayor said in Hiligaynon in a social media post.

He added that the livelihood of Olotayan residents, mainly on fishing, is affected because of Kristine.

More food packs were also distributed to Kristine-affected city residents in the evacuation centers of barangays Barra, Baybay and Dumolog.

The DSWD’s assistance in Roxas City formed part of the P1.6-million worth of goods released in Western Visayas-affected areas. (PIA)
