Question: What are the intriguing yet interesting elements that caught public attention and empathy?
The story line has the potential of becoming a movie script for a crime drama. Any movie director will surely love the plot.
The main characters were a 16-year-old lass and her three male barkadas aged 17, 19 and 20.
The drama started in the evening of May 31 when the four of them went to the birthday party of a common friend at Granada Heights Subdivision, Barangay Granada. They drank, they merry until they became tipsy.
The 20-year-old Nicus Balagusa was reportedly the first to go home despite of being groggy.
Left in the party were the girl and the two male friends – the 17 years old and the 19 years old.
Alas, the girl was raped by the two male teenagers, the police report stated.
The following day, upon knowing what happened, the girl’s father got mad.
On June 2, the girl’s father, alongside a brother, went to the Balagusa’s house and shot Nicus in front of the boy’s parents.
Nicus died on the spot.
Later, the girl clarified that Nicus didn’t rape her, but their two other male friends.
Now, the girl’s father and uncle remain at large.
Colonel Noel Aliño, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said they’ve already filed a complaint for murder against the girl’s father and uncle, and a rape complaint against the 17-year old and 19-year-old suspects.
Collins Dictionary defines an impetus person as someone who acts quickly and suddenly without thinking or being careful.
To be impetus could be deadly sometimes.
In the case of the father, he should have listened to his daughter. His failure to remain calm and listen carefully to the real story led to fatal violence.
The theory of mistaken identity cannot be applied or invoked in this case. The father allowed himself to be consumed by misplaced anger.
The result: he cast a “story of a sorry” beyond legal redemption. A terribly sad and bad consequence for the rape of his daughter. But this is also heart-wrenching.
Morals of the story: Manage you anger. Don’t be impulsive./PN
